It Worked!!
45 days ago, I wrote of my clearing-off-the-dining-table-for-once-and-for-all aspirations.
(Read the previous post to refresh memory of The Plan)
I'm delighted to report that I really did what I expected to do...I methodically worked to get all that transferred clutter put away from the folding table in my daughter's room, had it done by the time Paul returned from Mexico (whew!) AND, most wonderful of all, the dining table has remained clutter-free.
Well. Not exactly clutter-free - it has resumed life as a useful and contributing member of this household, providing a nice flat space to work on or eat from. So there is almost always something happening on that table. Sometimes for a few days at a time, as when I started yet another crafty/arty interest: beaded needle-woven neckpieces...and had the materials out. But the key word is "happening" -- things are being done on that table, things are in process, it's creative and functional clutter.
I waited awhile to post about this, because I wanted to make sure that it was a major shift for me, that I did not start allowing the dysfunctional clutter to accumulate after a couple of weeks. But...hooray....it has been about six weeks and that hasn't happened.
It has been wonderful to have a friend over for lunch and sit at the table (we won't talk about the table itself, a thrift shop purchase, along with the unmatching and falling-apart chairs...), to have space to show Molly how to use her new sewing machine, to sit down and do the bills, lay out a project to measure, cut, match up a seam....
oooh, good chi is flowing, energy moving....
